LEWISTOWN -- A 33-year-old man was jailed Thursday after police said he did not return keys to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital when his employment was terminated.

Joseph Paul Biddle, of Lewistown, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jack Miller on charges of theft and receiving stolen property.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause filed by Mifflin County Regional Police, Biddle was a security officer at the hospital and the keys opened numerous non-public doors, which would pose a security risk to the entire facility.

After multiple attempts by police to obtain the keys, police were contacted by the regional director of security for Geisinger Health System, who said plans were underway to change out all locks in the hospital to secure the facility, which was expected to cost about $7,000.

Biddle is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $35,000 bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for Oct. 18.
