Juvenile charged with assault with weapon
McALISTERVILLE -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a report of an active domestic at about 8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 12 on Sunnyside Road. According to the incident report, charges were filed against a 14-year-old female for an altercation that occurred using a blunt object. Officers are still investigating.
GMC Sierra reported stolen in '21
McALISTERVILLE -- A 2004 GMC Sierra bearing a PA registration number YZR7024, was stolen from Brook Trout Lane at about midnight on Wednesday, March 1, 2021. The investigation is still ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the incident is urged to contact Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown.
Driver falls asleep at the wheel
LEWISTOWN -- State Police at Lewistown responded to a one-vehicle accident at about 9 a.m on Friday, Oct. 20, on US Highway 522, 50-feet north of Franks Lane. According to the incident report, Zachary Oxenrider, 38 of Bloomsburg, was the operator of a 2016 Nissan Altima. Oxenrider fell asleep at the wheel and drove the vehicle off the right side of the roadway. The Altima struck a parked 2007 Red Mini Cooper before coming to rest.
The driver of the vehicle was not wearing his seatbelt. He refused to be transported for treatment.
Two juveniles charged with harassment
BELLEVILLE -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a report of harassment Sunday on Front Mountain Road. After an investigation, two female juveniles, a 14-year-old from Belleville and a 15-year-old from Petersburg, were charged with harassment.
Hit and run
LEWISTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police investigated a hit-and-run vehicle accident at about 8:45 p.m. Friday on Alfarata Road. According to the report issued by police, an unknown vehicle was traveling eastbound on Alfarata Road. The driver lost control of the vehicle and traveled off the northern side of the roadway, running over two shrubs before striking a tree. The driver fled the scene eastbound on Alfarata Road. Man charged with DUI
LEWISTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown stopped a 2015 Hyundai Genesis for a violation of the vehicle code on Parcheytown Road at about 2 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, an investigation determined the 39-year-old driver from Lewistown driver of the vehicle was under the influence of alcohol. The case is awaiting blood results.
Burglar at large
MIFFLIN - Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown investigated a burglary that occurred at about 3 a.m. on Saturday at the Mifflin Service Mart on Mowery Street. According to the report, a male gained access to the front door by throwing a rock through the glass. He proceeded to remove various merchandise valued at $150 before fleeing the scene on a bicycle.
Investigation is still ongoing.
Two males charged with harassment
MIFFLIN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown cited two male individuals, a 46-year-old from Honey Grove and a 22-year-old from Port Royal, with harassment for engaging in a physical altercation at about midnight Sunday on McCoysville Road.
Deer causes crash
THOMPSONTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a one-vehicle accident at about 7:30 p.m. Friday on US Highway 322 East. According to the report, a 2016 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 61-year-old Jeffrey Troutman of Hershey was traveling east when a deer entered the roadway. The driver was unable to avoid striking the deer. The vehicle sustained disabling damage and was towed from the scene. The driver was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured.
Two-vehicle accident results from deer on roadway
THOMPSONTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a two-vehicle accident at about 11:40 p.m. Friday on US Highway West at Locust Run.
According to the report, a 2015 Subaru Outback driven by 39-year-old Adam Walton of Mifflintown was traveling west when it encountered a deer standing in the middle of the road. The vehicle slowed at the crest of a small hill. A 2012 Freightliner Columbia driven by 63-year-old Rhet Leonrd of McVeytown approached, also traveling west, when the driver observed the Subaru stopped in the right lane. The driver of the Frieghtliner attempted to brake and swerve to the shoulder to avoid a collision. The Freighliner was unable to avoid hitting the Subaru, striking it in the rear and causing the vehicle to be propelled 25-yards from the roadway into the woods.
The driver of the Subaru and a passenger were transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for suspected injuries. The driver of the Freightliner sustained no injuries. Both vehicles sustained disabling damage.
