LEWISTOWN -- The first option for the multi-sports facilities project at Mifflin County High School will move forward after a 6-3 roll call vote at Thursday's meeting of the Mifflin County School Board. Board members voting in favor of the $18,477,642 option were Mary Lou Sigler, Diane Stewart, Terry Styers, Noah Wise, John Knepp and Michael Mowery. Those voting in opposition were Mark Baker, Fredrick Nickel and Don Wright.

As a result of Thursday's vote, the Nov. 2 school board meeting has been canceled. The next meeting of the board will be Nov. 16. The agenda for the meeting will not include discussion about moving forward with the sports facility project. That discussion has been completed.

The tentative completion date for the sports facilities project is October 2024.
