Looking for something to do with family and friends this weekend? Check out these five events around the Juniata Valley:
1. Scarecrow weekend at Buttonwood Campground
Do you know how to build a scarecrow? Buttonwood Campground, 1515 E. River Rd., Mifflintown will be awarding prizes for the best scarecrow during Scarecrow Weekend, which runs Friday through Sunday. Straw will be provided, although contestants will need to provide the creativity and the rest of the trimmings. For more information, visit www.buttonwoodcampgrounds.com.

2. Ragtime in Rockhill
Enjoy the sweet sounds of ragtime music at America's oldest operating narrow gauge railroad, East Broad Top Railroad at 421 Meadow St., Rockhill Furnace. EBT is once again partnering with the Central Pennsylvania Ragtime and American Music Festival to bring the jazz and ragtime together. From live performances onboard trains and on the platform, to a dinner train and concert at Colgate Grove, there will be a musical experience for everyone from Friday through Sunday. 3. Sparks in the Barnyard
Learn about life during the American Civil War by meeting re-enactors who portray military, field hospital and civilians at the Barnyard Corn Maze, 10588 Ferguson Valley Rd., Lewistown.
The public is invited to participate in the event, which runs Friday through Sunday, by mustering in, training to be a soldier and fighting on the battlefield. A Civil War ball will be held in the barn Saturday night. For more information, call (717) 543-0921.
The Barnyard Corn Maze is also open with mazes, hayrides, barrel train, pedal tractors, play yard, pumpkin patch and more. Look for their Facebook page for more information about themed-weekends and special events.
4. Golden Mile Farmer's Market on Fridays
Fridays (and Tuesdays) mean fresh produce at the Golden Mile Farmer's Market at Kishacoquillas Park, 1 Derry Park Drive, Lewistown. Starting at 10 a.m., the farmer's market will offer fresh fruit and vegetables. For more information, call (717) 527-4081 or find their page on Facebook.
5. Midway Market on Saturdays
The Midway Drive-In, 1380 William Penn Highway, Mifflintown, hosts its Midway Market Saturdays through October. Browse a variety of stands and find some goodies. Hours are 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Free admission and parking. For more information, call (717) 436-6011.
