Richfield man facing additional rape charges

RICHFIELD — More charges have been filed against a 33-year-old man accused of sexually assaulting a child.

Joshua Edward Hughes, of Richfield, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Tracy Powell Thursday on charges of rape, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a minor, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and related offenses.

According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, during an incident that happened between mid-June and mid-July, Hughes told a child that if she did that if she did not have sex with him, he would “hurt her sister.”

Hughes is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $100,000 bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 9:45 a.m. Sept. 20.
