MIFFLINTOWN -- The Juniata County Commissioners held their weekly meeting Tuesday to approve $500,000 in Home Housing Rehabilitation Program Grant documents and conduct other business.
Community Development Director Bradley W. Kerstetter said the SEDA Council of Governments submitted the grant on behalf of Juniata County. This grant application is for SEDA-COG's Housing Rehabilitation Program that is designed for individuals with low to moderate incomes.
Commissioners approved documents including an authorization of an application to the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development for Home Funds. They also appointed a language access coordinator, approved of the Home Program Compliance Checklist, Language Access Plan and Certification, Limited English Proficiency Certification, Assurances and Special Conditions, Home Program Certification of Capacity, and a Citizen Participation Report.
These documents are provided by the state to provide direction for provision of services for the Home Program. Those covered by the program might receive services like roofing for a home that does not meet property code or installation of a bathroom in a home.
Commissioners also approved the following...
• Submission of the Fiscal Year 2022 State and Local Cybersecurity Grant Program – Local Government Entities Consent Agreement. This agreement enables the continuation of funding for intrusion, detection, and security awareness services;
• The payment of a Juniata County Hazardous Materials check in the amount of $586 to Casner's Service Center Inspection and Tires;
• The August 2023 departmental reports consisting of assessment reports submitted by the Juniata County Assessment Office. A Sheriff's report submitted by the Sheriff's Office. A disbursement summary report submitted by Tracy Powell, Magisterial District Judge and a Children and Youth statistical report, submitted by Ashley J. Baxter, Children and Youth director;
• The payment of checks in the amount of $446,294.12.
