The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•Free Garden to Table Workshop -- Tuesday, Sept. 19, 6-7:30 p.m., Body & Soul Community Center, Strodes Mills. Leah Fronk, horticulture specialist and educator, will answer garden questions. •Milroy Hose Co. No. 1 spaghetti dinner -- 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. Dine in or takeout. Dinner includes spaghetti, meatballs, toss salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverage. Cost is a donation. Reservations accepted but not required. To pre-order, call (717) 667-2388.

•Goose Day dinner -- pickup 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Sept. 29, Decatur Fire Co. Cookhouse, North 522, Alfarata.. Takeout only. Goose dinner, $17 or chicken dinner, $15. Goose bowl, $14 or chicken bowl, $12. Meal includes mashed potatoes, filling, gravy, corn, pepper slaw, applesauce and cake. Reserve meal at (717) 543-0921 by Sept. 20. Preorders only.

•Juniata County Historical Society annual fall dinner -- 6:30 p.m., Oct. 25, Walker Grange, Mexico. Speaker: Local author and historian Forest K. Fisher. Topic: Alexander Caverns. Tickets are $20. Price includes a roast chicken dinner. Tickets available at the JCHS Archives, Tuesdays from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. or Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. Call (717) 436-5152 to reserve tickets, or mail a check to the Juniata County Historical Society, 498 Jefferson St., Suite B., Mifflintown, PA 17059, with a stamped return envelope to have tickets mailed. •Tyler Smith Memorial Scholarship Fundraiser -- 11 a.m.-1 p.m., Sunday, Oct 22., 2023 at Lewistown Elks Lodge, 229 W. Third St. in Lewistown. Chicken and waffles or chicken pot pie. Saturday, Sept. 16

•All-You-Can-Eat Breakfast -- 7-10 a.m., East Salem Community Church. Scrambled eggs, pancakes, muffins, sausage links, dried beef gravy and toast, orange juice and coffee. Cost is by donation. Proceeds support special church projects.

•LHS Class of 1958 breakfast -- 9 a.m., Sal-lee's Dreams, Strodes Mills. Classmates, spouses and friends invited. Information: (717) 667-2389.

•Mifflin County Historical Society Museum Day -- 10 a.m-3 p.m., McCoy House and Hoopes School.

•Tuscarora Academy Museum Day -- Open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.

•Mifflin County Amish-Mennonite Historical Society exhibits -- 10 a.m.-3 p.m., corner of Main and Walnut streets, Belleville. Both the Heritage house and Heritage Center will be open. There will be exhibits and demonstrations on the lawn.

•Community meal -- 11 a.m., Sacred Heart School cafeteria. Doors open at 10 a.m. Sponsored by the St Vincent dePaul Society. Bingo to follow the meal.

•Chief Logan High School (Yeagertown campus) class of 1955 reunion -- 1 p.m. at J.P. Edwards Restaurant. All class members and friends are welcome.

•Keystone State Muscle Cars Cruise-Ins -- 5-8 p.m., Rec Park in Lewistown. All cars, trucks, bikes are welcome. No membership needed. For more information, call (717) 437-6050.
