The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.

Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•McClure Veterans Memorial Pool Golf Tournament fundraiser -- Sept. 30, Lewistown Country Club. Register by Sept. 15 by calling (570) 850-1320 or (717) 439-6841 or emailing vmpoolgolf@gmail.com. Registration includes green fees, cart and meal. Event is held rain or shine. Information can be found on the pool's Facebook page.

•Goose Day dinner -- pickup 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Sept. 29, Decatur Fire Co. Cookhouse, North 522, Alfarata.. Takeout only. Goose dinner, $17 or chicken dinner, $15. Goose bowl, $14 or chicken bowl, $12. •Juniata County Historical Society annual fall dinner -- 6:30 p.m., Oct. 25, Walker Grange, Mexico. Speaker: Local author and historian Forest K. Fisher. Topic: Alexander Caverns. Tickets are $20. Price includes a roast chicken dinner. •Fly-in, Drive-in, Walk-in breakfast -- 8-10:30 a.m. at the EAA Club House, Mifflin County Airport Hanger 4. "World Famous Omelet" plus your favorite side dishes. Sponsored by Experimental Aircraft Association, Chapter 518.

•LHS Class of 1958 breakfast -- 9 a.m., Sal-lee's Dreams in Strodes Mills. Classmates, spouses and friends invited. Information: (717) 667-2389.

•Mifflin County Historical Society Museum Day -- 10 a.m-3 p.m., McCoy House and Hoopes School.

•Community meal -- 11 a.m., Sacred Heart School cafeteria. Doors open at 10 a.m. Sponsored by the St Vincent dePaul Society. Bingo to follow the meal.

•Mifflin County Amish-Mennonite Historical Society exhibits -- 10 a.m.-3 p.m., corner of Main and Walnut streets, Belleville. Both the Heritage house and Heritage Center will be open. There will be exhibits and demonstrations on the lawn.

•Tuscarora Academy Museum Day -- Open 10 a.m. – 4 p.m.
