The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

•Free Garden to Table Workshop -- Tuesday, Sept. 19, 6-7:30 p.m., Body & Soul Community Center, Strodes Mills. Leah Fronk, horticulture specialist and educator, will answer garden questions. •Milroy Hose Co. No. 1 spaghetti dinner -- 4-7 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. Dine in or take-out. Dinner includes spaghetti, meatballs, toss salad, garlic bread, dessert and beverage. Cost is a donation. Reservations accepted but not required. To pre-order, call (717) 667-2388.
•McClure Veterans Memorial Pool Golf Tournament fundraiser -- Sept. 30, Lewistown Country Club. Register by Sept. 15 by calling (570) 850-1320 or (717) 439-6841 or emailing vmpoolgolf@gmail.com. Registration includes green fees, cart and meal. Event is held rain or shine. Information can be found on the pool's Facebook page.
•Goose Day dinner -- pickup 11 a.m.-5 p.m., Sept. 29, Decatur Fire Co. Cookhouse, North 522, Alfarata.. Takeout only. Goose dinner, $17 or chicken dinner, $15. Goose bowl, $14 or chicken bowl, $12. •Graceful Soles Shoe Bank -- 9 a.m.-noon, Grace United Methodist Church, 101 Logan St., Lewistown. Children up to age 18 are given a free pair of shoes with verification of low income through medical assistance. Parent or guardian must accompany child.
•Chicken barbecue fundraising event -- Ready at 10:30 a.m., West Granville Township Fire Co. Preorder: (717) 248-0665.
• LHS Class of 1965 luncheon -- 11 a.m., Sal-lee's Dream in Lewistown. Classmates and spouses are welcome.
•Drive-thru ham or beef pot pie sale -- 4 p.m., Rescue Hose Co. #20, 222 South Sassafras St., Beavertown. Benefits the fire company.
