REEDSVILLE -- A 61-year-old man is facing dozens of felony charges after police allege he inappropriately touched a child while at a daycare at his home dating back to 2010.
Michael A. Mowery, of Reedsville, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kent Smith Tuesday on six counts of involuntary deviated intercourse with a child, two counts of indecent assault of a person less than 16, six counts of aggravated assault of a child, eight counts of sexual assault, two counts of aggravated indecent assault of a child, six counts of indecent assault of a person less than 13 and two counts of misdemeanor indecent assault of a person less than 16 for charges dating back to 2022.
In a second set of charges dating back to 2010, Mowery was arraigned on 12 count each of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, aggravated indecent assault of a child, sexual assault and indecent assault oof a person less than 13 years of age.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, a now-14-year-old told police she Mowrey touched her inappropriately while she was at a private daycare at his Reedsville home on Church Street, starting when she was 7.
The report states that at one point, Mowery told the child that the act was "their little secret" and further states that "if she told anyone, he would kill her."
According to the report, Mowery continued the sexual acts until she was 14 and while there were other kids in the room.
In the second report, an 18-year-old told officers from Mifflin County Regional Police that Mowery sexually assaulted her between 2010 and 2016 while she was being babysat.
Mowery is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $500,000 bail, which was set for each set of offenses. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. Sept. 6.
