Woman arrested on DUI
LEWISTOWN -- A Lewistown woman is facing charges after police said she nearly struck a police vehicle head on.
According to a report from Lewistown Police Department, at about 11:18 a.m. July 11, 28-year-old Paige Elizabeth Jacobs was driving in the 100 block of South Main Street, Lewistown, another person following this vehicle stopped the officer and reported that they too were almost struck by the same vehicle and that the driver appeared impaired.
Police were able to stop the vehicle and noted that Jacobs was found to be highly intoxicated and a blood test revealed her blood alcohol content was over three times the legal limit.
Charges were filed for DUI and traffic related offenses.
Retail theft reported at Weis
MIFFLINTOWN -- Officers from Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown conducted an investigation between March 14 and May 22, regarding a retail theft incident that occurred at Weis Markets, Mifflintown.
According to the report, over the course of three dates, an unnamed suspect price swapped and failed to scan items at checkout.
Items that were not scanned included a small and large Amish salad, valued at $10.98. POlice said price swaps were also completed on two grocery items valued at $10.74.
Police suspect a Chevrolet TrailBlazer was involved. Charges are pending.
Two cited with harassment
McCLURE -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown investigated a domestic dispute at about 9 a.m. Aug. 6 Old Stage Road.
The report states that an unnamed 56-year old Lewistown man and a 49-year old woman from McClure got into an physical altercation while the officers were present.
Both parties were cited with harassment through Magisterial District Judge Jonathon Reed.
Theft of credit card reported
REEDSVILLE -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to the report of a stolen Capital One Venture Card.
The report states that the card was taken from a residence on Cameron Hill, Decatur Township.
Police respond to trespass
MILROY -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a complaint of trespass and harassment at about 8:50 p.m. Aug. 13 on Wayside Lane, Armagh Township, when a Jeep was reportedly parked on a lane permitting right of way.
Woman charged in vehicle crash
THOMPSONTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a crash at about 9 a.m. Aug. 14, on state Route 333, Delaware Township.
According to the report, the crash occurred as a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt was traveling eastbound, west of Mill Road.
The report states that an unnamed 17 year old female driver was negotiating a left curve when she was distracted by a bug in the vehicle.
According to the report, the vehicle exited the right lane and struck the guide rail pushing her onto the roadway. The vehicle proceeded to travel across the oncoming lane.
The Cobalt exited the roadway and traveled through a yard, striking a fence and continuing down an embankment.
Before coming to its final position of rest the vehicle traveled through a bush and into a ditch.
The report states that the driver was not wearing her seat belt and sustained minor injuries.
The vehicle sustained disabling damage and the driver was cited for the incident.
Police respond to DUI
MIDDLEBURG -- Pennsylvania State Police at Selinsgrove responded to a crash at about 11:40 p.m. July 23 on Troxelville Road, Adams Township.
The report states that the driver of a 2012 Volkswagen Jetta, was under the influence of alcohol. The case remains open pending court proceedings.
Police respond to animal malnourishment
McCLURE -- Officers from Pennsylvania State Police at Selinsgrove responded to a report of cruelty to animals at about 11 a.m., June 10, on McKnight Road, West Beaver Township.
According to the report, the officer arrived to check on the welfare of the animals at the residence and saw four cows, two of which appeared to be severely underweight. Subsequently, the two underweight cows passed away.
The report states that forensic exams were performed on all four cows by an emergency veterinarian. A necropsy was conducted on one of the deceased cows which showed the most significant findings in the cow involved severe emaciation with serious atrophy.
Bailey Sweigart, 19, of McClure was arrested for his involvement in the incident, the report says.
This case remains open pending court proceedings.
