Charges filed against Reedsville man
McCLURE - Criminal charges have been filed against a 43-year-old Reedsville man for his involvement in a motor vehicle accident that occurred Monday, June 19.
According to a report from Middleburg Police Department, Samuel S. Smith was arrested on a felony warrant on Aug. 8.
The report says criminal charges were filed against Smith as a result of a motor vehicle accident which occurred on state Route 522, McClure Borough. Police said Smith was driving a 1999 Ford F250 with a female passenger who was later found to be lying on the roadway by a passing motorist with critical injuries.
The passenger was airlifted to Geisinger Medical Center and underwent extensive medical procedures and rehabilitation.
Smith was arraigned by Snyder County Magisterial District Judge Bo Trawitz and released on unsecured bail.
A preliminary hearing is set for 1:30 p.m. Aug. 21. Mifflin County Regional Police assisted at the scene.
Police respond to hydroplaning incident
MIFFLINTOWN - Officers from Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a crash call around 4 p.m. Aug. 7 on US 22, Fermanagh Township.
According to the report, a 2012 Chevrolet Cruze was traveling westbound and encountered a large amount of water on the roadway which caused the driver to hydroplane.
The driver states he tried evasive maneuvers but could not keep the vehicle on the road.
No injuries were reported and the Chevrolet Cruze was drivable. The driver's name was not reported.
Loose dog reported, returned
LEWISTOWN - Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to a report of a loose dog at about 6:30 p.m. Thursday, July 27 on Terrace Boulevard, Juniata Terrace.
According to the report the dog was captured and returned to its owner.
Police respond to report of siphoned gas
MILLERSTOWN - Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to the report of gas being siphoned out of multiple pieces of small equipment at Block Highland Road, Greenwood Township, Juniata County at about 4 p.m. July 18.
According to the report an extension cord, valued at $40 and garden hose, valued at $40, were cut as well. The report states that $40 in gasoline was taken.
This investigation is still ongoing.
Stolen vehicle reported
MCALISTERVILLE -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to the report of a stolen 2000 green Ford Explorer at about 9:20 p.m. July 31.
According to the report, the vehicle was located on Stine Lane, Fayette Township, Juniata County.
Police arrested a 60-year-old Mifflin man. No other information was available.

Theft reported from Weis store
MIFFLINTOWN - Officers from Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown investigated a report of retail theft from Weis, Mifflintown, that occurred between 8 a.m. May 12 and 9 p.m. May 20.
According to the report, a 42-year old unnamed female was arrested after removing multiple items without paying for them.
Charges were filed through Magisterial District Judge Jacqeline Leister's office.
Criminal trespassing allegations
MIFFLINTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown responded to the report of trespassing on Ridge Road, Fayette Township, at about 4:45 p.m. July 31.
The investigation is still ongoing.
Hit and run
MCVEYTOWN - Pennsylvania State Police at Lewistown are investigating a hit and run that occurred at about 11 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 6 on US Highway 522, near Rhone Road.
According to the report, the crash occurred when a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu was stopped at a construction zone traffic signal while it was red heading toward Mount Union.
A dark colored Sedan was reported as the vehicle that approached the Malibu from behind.
The report states that the vehicle rear ended the Malibu and proceeded to back up and flee the scene heading towards Mount Union.
No damages or injuries were reported by the female driver and passenger.
