EAST SALEM -- A Millerstown man is facing assault charges after police said he fired shots in Greenwood Township.
Michael Joseph Burns, 43, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Jacqueline Leister on Aug. 5 on two counts of aggravated assault, two counts of reckless endangerment and two counts of simple assault.
According to the Affidavit of Probable Cause, Pennsylvania State Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 15000 block of state Route 235, Greenwood Township, Juniata County at about 12:30 a.m. Aug. 4.
The report states that while police were responding to the call, two victims said shots were fired at them while they were in the area.
One of the witnesses described the shooter as a large build non-English speaking man with a white shirt.
While police were in the driveway of the residence, they reported seeing two 9mm casings lying in the driveway.
The report states that Burns initially denied using a firearm, then later fired two shots into the ground as a vehicle was driving away.
Burns was held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility on $75,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is set for 11 a.m. Aug. 16.
