Miller is new administrator at Juniata Christian School

(Editor's Note: The start of another school year is just around the corner. Many of the high school administrators in The Sentinel's coverage area were interviewed to share their thoughts on the upcoming school year. This is the fourth in the series.)
MCALISTERVILLE -- A new year has brought change to Juniata Christian School in McAlisterville. There are new faces in new places, starting with Administrator Bill Miller.
Miller, who served as principal last year, was promoted to the administrator position for the 2023-24 school year. Currently, the school is still seeking a principal.
"We are excited to have the students return for another year of school," Miller said. "We look forward to working with students to help them grow academically, spiritually and relationally this year."
Miller believes the school has several projects in place, which are greatly beneficial to students. One is the Prayer Partner program which pairs up older students with younger ones and gives them the opportunity to spend time at least once a quarter praying for each other and doing other activities together.
"It is wonderful to see how the school body comes together and the positive influence the older students have on the younger students," Miller said.
He is also immensely proud of the faculty and staff's effort in seeking school reaccreditation through the Middle States Association Commissioners on Elementary and Secondary Schools (MSA-CESS).
"Last year, the faculty and staff worked really hard toward seeking reaccreditation through MSA-CESS," he explained. "We were recommended for accreditation which is a testament to the excellent work of teachers and staff."
Juniata Christian School still finds space at a premium, especially for the Juniata Christian School Lions' athletic teams. "One of our greatest challenges is always a matter of space," Miller explained. "We don't currently have a gym and that creates challenges each year. We are grateful to God for our beautiful facilities and make the best use of the space we have."
Juniata Christian School has continued to grow in numbers since it was founded in 1954. In 1988, the doors to its current facility in McAlisterville opened. This larger space provided the opportunity for its increasing enrollment and improved its overall learning environment.
As God blessed and growth continued, the need for additional office space, library space and still more classroom space was met by an expansion of the facilities. This paved the way for the later addition of a high school, making Juniata Christian School a K-12 school.
Juniata Christian School is now fully accredited opening the doors of opportunity to students for college and university attendance with full recognition of JCS credentials.
The school motto is "Solid Foundations, New Horizons," which represents not only our mission of providing children with both a solid foundation in Christ with a view of Christ on the horizon, but also its solid foundation in the Mennonite tradition, and the new horizon of unifying Christians with a common goal.
