MIFFLINTOWN -- The deadline to enter to be Juniata County Fair Queen, Princess, Little Miss and Tiny Miss is looming.
Pageant winners will represent the Juniata County Fair during public events like parades and other functions throughout the year.
The last day to enter is Aug. 12.
"I believe any girl in the age range listed who likes the fair, is interested in agriculture and wants to be an activist for the fair, our community and agriculture should apply," said McKala Ehrenzeller, Fair Queen coordinator.
Queen
The Fair Queen must be a female resident of Juniata County. The applicant must be 16 years of age as of June 1, but no older than 20 as of June. She cannot have been a former Juniata County Fair Queen or State Fair Queen contestant. She can not hold any other title for any other commodity group or pageant.
If she is younger than 18, parents must consent. She must be single, never married, never pregnant or given birth and can not marry during her reign. The queen must be of good moral character, able to meet commitments, obligations and she must follow the dress code as set forth by the committee.

Applicants will be asked to submit a typed 300 word essay on "what my fair means to our community."
The contestants must give a 3 to 5 minute persuasive speech on "why you should come to my fair." They must submit two wallet sized photos and any necessary releases from professional photographers.
Each contestant will receive individual gifts. A $500 scholarship is awarded to the winner, and a scholarship of $250 is awarded to the first runner up. The winner will also be eligible to compete for a scholarship of $2,000 for education of the Pennsylvania State Fair queen contest held in January 2024 at the PSACF Convention.
Princess
A Fair Princess will also be selected and must be between the ages of 12 and 15.
The applicant must be a resident of Juniata County and requires her parents consent to compete and attend to other responsibilities. She can not have been a former winner and must dress in an evening gown and attend rehearsal.
Her responsibilities include being available fair week to attend activities and help distribute ribbons, trophies, etc.
Candidates will compete in poise and presentation, their ability to communicate during the question and answer portion of the contest. They will need a typed essay; 150 to 300 words on "what my fair means to my community."
Candidates will conduct a personal interview with a panel of judges.
Little Miss and Tiny Miss
Little Miss and Tiny Miss will also be crowned. Girls ages 5 to 11 can apply. Contestants must be a resident of Juniata County, have parents consent to compete in the contest and attend other responsibilities. She can not be a former winner and must dress in their Sunday best or flower girl dress and attend rehearsal.
Responsibilities include being available fair week to attend activities and help distribute ribbons, trophies, etc. She will represent the Juniata County Fair in parades and other functions throughout the year. She must also attend the next year's crowning. Candidates will compete in poise and presentation and their ability to communicate during the question and answer portion of the contest.
