Boalsburg preps for Civil War weekend
BOALSBURG -- The Columbus Chapel and the Boal Mansion Museum will host a Civil War weekend from Aug. 11 to Aug. 13.
The festivities feature presentations on Civil War era topics by local historians and authors: American Women in the American War, Black Soldiers from Centre County, Centre County Went to War and the Civil War in Cinema.
Walking tours of Boalsburg and tours of the Boal Mansion and the Columbus Chapel will be available throughout the weekend, as well as food and drink vendors and live musical performances.
The highlight of the weekend will be the Civil War Ball on Saturday in the Boal Mansion ballroom,with many dancers in period costumes.
