Juniata County students graduate from Reach Cyber Charter School
HARRISBURG -- Graduates from Juniata County were celebrated by friends, family and faculty as members of Reach Cyber Charter School's Class of 2023. These students were among the 847 high school seniors who were honored in the STEM-focused online school's in-person commencement ceremony at the Bryce Jordan Center in State College on June 8. Graduates from Juniata County include Rayce Price and Arista Whitesel.
King graduates from Shenandoah University
WINCHESTER, Va. -- Derek King, of Mount Union, was among the 1,143 students who graduated from Shenandoah University during the 2022-23 academic year. King earned a Doctor of Pharmacy. Shenandoah's 2023 commencement ceremony took place on May 20 in the James R. Wilkins, Jr. Athletics and Events Center.
Ort named to President's List
at Pensacola Christian College
PENSACOLA, Fla. -- Ashlyn Ort, daughter of Peter and Melanie Ort of Lewistown, was named to the President's List at Pensacola Christian College for academic achievement during the 2023 spring semester. This was a result of earning a semester grade point average of 3.90 or higher.
Lebanon Valley College student-athletes named to MAC Academic Honor Roll
ANNVILLE, Pa. -- More than 200 Lebanon Valley College student-athletes have been named to the 2023 Middle Atlantic Conference's (MAC) winter/spring Academic Honor Roll. The list is comprised of student-athletes who compete in a varsity-level sport and registered a term/semester GPA of 3.20 (on a 4.00 scale) or higher.
Local students include Rachel King of Burnham and Andrew Loy of Millerstown.
King is a graduate of Mifflin County High School. She is a member of the women's swimming team and is pursuing a bachelor of science in exercise science.
Loy is a graduate of Greenwood High School. He is a member of the men's track and field team and received a bachelor of science in business administration. Loy is one of 28 LVC spring student-athletes to achieve a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester.
Local cadet graduates from West Point
WEST POINT, N.Y. - Cadet Chloe Anne Zendt, daughter of Michael and Becca Zendt of Mifflintown, graduated from the U.S. Military Academy on Saturday, May 27.
Zendt graduated from Juniata High School in 2019. While at West Point, she concentrated her studies in Engineering Psychology. She was commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army within the Air Defense Artillery branch and will report to Fort Cavazos (formerly Ft Hood), Texas for her first assignment.
Schrack named to Ohio University's Provost's List
ATHENS, Ohio -- Ohio University College of Health Sciences and Professions student Danielle Schrack of McAlistervle has been named to the spring 2023 Provost's List.
At the end of each semester, Ohio University's undergraduate students are evaluated based on their semester GPA and hours to determine placement on the President's List, Dean's List or Provost's List.
The Provost's List recognition is shared with high-achieving, part-time undergraduate students who exemplify academic success. Qualifying students must possess a 3.5 or greater GPA and between 6 and 11.99 credit hours attempted for letter grades that are used to calculate GPA.
