Tradition continues with spectacular East Waterford Fourth of July Celebration

EAST WATERFORD -- The Fourth of July around East Waterford means fun and games, frozen homemade ice cream and floats in the annual parade.
"It's been a tradition that dates back over 100 years of time," says Daniel Love, one of the organizers of the annual East Waterford Fourth of July Independence Celebration.
This year's festivities are scheduled for Tuesday, July 4, at the East Waterford Carnival Grounds on Horse Valley Road, starting at 10 a.m.
Besides having five flavors of ice cream, food stands will serve chicken barbecue, hot sausages, hamburgers and hot dogs, French fries, homemade pies and lots of other treats, Love said.
The car show is open to all makes, models and years of cars, motorcycles and trucks, vintage and antiques (no tractors). Registration is from 9 to 10 a.m., and will be open to the public from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
There will also be games galore with horseshoe and cornhole tournaments. The cornhole tournament will use Scoreholio. Proceeds from the horseshoes event benefit Lack-Tuscarora Park.
The Kids' Zone entertainment area will offer attractions for all ages including inflatables such as football, T-ball, basketball and corn bin box.
The petting zoo will feature barnyard animals including miniature horses and donkeys.
First responders will set up the "Fire Zone," which features tours and demonstrations with their equipment. "'The Fire Zone' encourages participation and education with equipment on display for kids and adults," Love said. "The firefighters will give tours and set up a fire hydrant for people to try and hook up the hoses to it."
Entertainment headliners include local singer-songwriter Conrad Fisher and gospel-country singer Randy Simpson, starting at 11 a.m. Simpson is scheduled to perform at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. with Fisher to follow at noon and 2 p.m.
"There's a lot of buzz around him," Love said of Fisher. "He's local but traveled the nation performing."
He added Simpson "has been a staple to the event for years."
The area's largest parade will also step off at 3 p.m. Free registration is from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. and car show entries are encouraged to participate. Cash prizes will be awarded to all first-place winners in each category and a grand prize trophy and cash prize of $100, courtesy of American House, will be awarded to the best overall entry.
The Fourth of July Celebration is presented by the East Waterford Presbyterian Church.
