PennDOT offers Centre Co. road maintenance updates

Motorists asked to proceed with caution

BELLEFONTE -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Centre County Maintenance announces the following work schedule for the week of June 5 to June 9, weather permitting.

Motorists should travel with extra caution in these and all work areas. Motorists should be aware that due to the nature of highway maintenance and emergency work, crews could be working on any highway at any time of the day or night.

Centre County 0210

Sign Repairs and Upgrades:

· State Route: Various locations throughout the county

Pipe Flushing:

· State Route: 45 (Earlystown Road)

Bridge Repair:

· State Route: Various locations throughout the county

Guide Rail:

· State Route: I-80

· State Route: 144 (Axeman area)

Patching:

• State Route: I-99

• State Route: 1001 (Howard Divide)

• State Route: 144 (Runville)

• State Route: 3049 (Sandy Ridge)

• State Route: 879 (Pine Glen)

The following work is scheduled to be completed by contractor, weather permitting:

HRI, INC. - It is anticipated that HRI will be forming and pouring the new concrete wall.

State Route: 150 - Bellefonte Wall

Traffic control: Traffic will remain in the long-term condition for Phase 1: (NB will be detoured onto Stoney Batter Street, then onto SR144, then back onto SR150. SB will have a lane switch at the intersection of High Street and Water Street and travel SB in the NB lanes. There will be a lane restriction of 10' for SB traffic. Work will take place behind a concrete barrier. Work is weather dependent. Motorists should be prepared for AM delays SB and PM delays NB.

New Enterprise Stone - Wearing will be placed Monday, June 5, and Tuesday, June 6.

Thermoplastic paint and guide rail installation will be scheduled after completion of painting.

State Route: 26 - between Water Street and Whitehall Road in Ferguson Township

State Route: 45 - between Plainfield Road and Water Street in Ferguson Township

Traffic control: These work zones will feature flaggers in the roadway providing traffic control. Motorists are urged to be alert for changing traffic patterns, exercise caution while traveling through all work zones, obey the posted speed limits and buckle up. All work is weather dependent.

Nestlerode Contracting - On Friday, June 2, the contractor will close the bridge and begin removal of the bridge, building a single-span replacement, approach paving, guiderail installation, drainage improvements, pavement markings. The bridge is located about 1 mile northeast of Romola.

State Route: 1002

Traffic control: The detour will go into effect on Friday, June 2, when the bridge is closed to traffic. The detour will use Route 1001 (Howard Divide) and Route 150, and will be in place until August 27. The route will be posted with signage while in effect. Temporary signs will be placed, and flaggers will be used as needed. Motorists are advised to watch for slow moving and stopped vehicles through the work zone. Motorists are advised to be cautious and obey the posted speed limit through the work zone.
