MOUNT UNION -- A weekend of short line railroad history is planned for the weekend of July 14-16 in Mount Union.
The Central Pennsylvania Short Lines Railroad Prototype Modelers meet will feature 13 presentations about lines connecting with the former Pennsylvania Railroad Middle Division, including the East Broad Top, Huntingdon and Broad Top Mountain, Kishacoquillas Valley, Bellefonte Central and more!
A Railroad Prototype Modelers meet, or "RPM" features presentations -- "clinics" -- on topics about the real railroads with insights on how to model them prototypically. So whether you are just a rail historian or an avid modeler, you will enjoy this event!
Many of the presentations are by published authors on the subject.
The event begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, July 14 and runs through 9 p.m., with a break for dinner.
On Saturday, July 15, presentations run from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with breaks for lunch and dinner.
Between presentations, enjoy our host venue, the Bricktown Museum. The crew has been hard at work on their HO scale layout representing not only the East Broad Top but also the PRR main line from Mount Union through Huntingdon.
Bring your models representing the short lines in central Pennsylvania! We'll have a designated display area. There is no judging at RPM events, so feel comfortable to bring your models to share your approach.
On Sunday, July 16, both the Broad Top Area Coal Miners Museum and the Friends of the East Broad Top Museum will be open from 9 a.m. until noon. Both are located in Robertsdale.
There will be a 1 p.m. excursion of the East Broad Top Railroad. Only 50 seats are reserved for our group, but the deadline is June 15 for a guaranteed seat.
