BURNHAM -- A Yeagertown man was arrested Saturday after police said he spat on and threatened officers.
Wyatt Alan Erb, 21, was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Kent Smith on two counts of assaulting a law enforcement officer, and one count each of fleeing from police, resisting arrest, terroristic threats, disorderly conduct and related offense.
According to the report filed by Mifflin County Regional Police, officers observed Erb staggering into traffic while walking toward the Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital at about 10 p.m., even in front of the patrol car.
Police noted that Erb's speech was "heavily slurred" and he was argumentative. Officers also noted that he smelled of an "intoxicating beverage and marijuana."
According to the report, when Erb was told he was under arrest for public intoxication, he began to run into the hospital parking lot. Officers said he "ran out of both shoes," falling down several times.
Law enforcement officers said they followed Erb through the alley between Sunoco and the hospital's lower lot, then later on Roseland Lane.
Officers said he ran into the woods and headed toward Hillside Drive, then into the Pleasant Acres development.
The report states that Erb was later spotted in the McDonalds parking lot and that an officer with the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission chased him down a steep embankment and onto the railroad bed.
Officers said Erb spit on officers while they were handcuffing him. Officers said Erb's bag was searched and was found to contain drug paraphernalia as well as prescription medical marijuana.
Erb is being held in Mifflin County Correctional Facility, unable to post $50,000 bail. He is awaiting a preliminary hearing set for 9 a.m. July 12 in Mifflin County Central Court before Magisterial District Judge Kent Smith.
