Rotary of Lewistown to host 'Flags
for Heroes'
LEWISTOWN -- The Rotary Club of Lewistown will honor local heroes with a Flags for Heroes fundraiser. A presentation of heroes will be held at 6 p.m. today under the green pavilion at Kish Park.
West Snyder/Beaver Springs Rotary Club to host 'Flags for Heroes'
BEAVERTOWN -- The West Snyder/Beaver Springs Rotary Club will be offering the opportunity to sponsor "Flags for Heroes" to be displayed June 24-July 8 along Rte. 522 at the west end of Beavertown. You can honor someone from the military, a first responder, or anyone who is a hero in your life by having a flag displayed along with their name. The cost to sponsor a flag is $50 for a first-year sponsor, or $40 for continuing your sponsorship from last year. To sponsor your flag for your hero, contact chairperson Pat Saylor at (570) 765-0543 or any other West Snyder Rotarian. The Rotary Club will also have a stand at HillBilly Fever Days in Beavertown from June 14-17 for your convenience to arrange for your "Flag for Heroes." The deadline for flags is June 19.
Police investigating stolen purse
MIFFLINTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown are investigating an incident in which a woman's purse was removed from her vehicle while it was parked on Parkside Court, Fermanagh Township.
The incident was reported at about midnight, June 3.
Man thought to be injured in crash
THOMPSONTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown believe a 63-year-old Mifflintown man sustained serious injuries when riding his motorcycle on Free Spring Church Road, Walker Township at about 11 a.m. June 3.
According to the report, the incident occurred when a 2009 Ford Fusion driven by 68-year-old Lori Kerstetter, of McAlisterville, was traveling north. Officers said the vehicle stopped to turn left into a parking lot. At the same time, officers said a 2006 Harley Davidson driven by Larry Diven, of Mifflintown, was traveling south when the Ford turned directly in front of him.
The report says Diven sustained serious injuries and was wearing a helmet at the time of impact. Kerstetter sustained no injuries and was cited for the crash.
Yeagertown man injured in motorcycle crash
McVEYTOWN -- A 31-year-old man was injured as the result of a crash that occurred on School House Road, Oliver Township at about 5 p.m. June 3.
According to the report, Brady Glick was driving a 2002 Kawasaki Ninja south on School House Road when he failed to negotiate a left curve in the road.
The report says the vehicle went off the left side of the road, down a hill striking a sign on the right side of Ferguson Valley Road.
Officers said Glick was not wearing a helmet and suspected serious injuries.
McAlisterville residents charged in domestic
McALISTERVILLE -- Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown were dispatched to Leister Valley Road, Fayette Township at about 6:30 p.m. June 1 for the report of a domestic dispute.
Jeremy Bottorf, 46 and Lisa Bottorff, 43, were cited for the incident.
Officers said when they arrived on scene, Lisa Bottorff had fled the scene.
Citation filed in harassment
THOMPSONTOWN -- Pennsylvania State Police-Lewistown cited 57-year-old Davin Meyer and 37-year-old Bridget Leiter, both of Thompsontown in an incident earlier this month.
According to the report, officers were called to the 200 block of Pine Street, Thompsontown Borough, at about 3:30 p.m. June 1, where they said the two were arguing back and forth, across the street from vehicles.
Charges filed in Lewistown theft
LEWISTOWN -- Officers from Lewistown Police Department were called to the 300 block of Shaw Avenue at about 1:30 p.m. May 30 for the theft complaint in which four light bulb wifi cameras were stolen. Police said the cameras were valued at $71.98. Through investigation, it was found that Jeremy Dallmeyer, 37, stole the cameras. Dallmeyer was cited for theft by unlawful taking and receiving stolen property.
