LEWISTOWN -- Noah Wise and Robert Postal are projected to win the Republican nominations for Mifflin County Commissioner, according to Tuesday's unofficial primary election results.
Kevin Kodish is expected to win the Democratic nomination.
According to Tuesday's results, Wise received 2,849 of 10,410 total votes while Postal received 2,679 votes.
Following close behind in the Republican race were Robert Grassmyer, receiving 2,4478 votes and Donald Warntz II, receiving 2,387 votes.
Kodish received 1,562 of 1,771 votes on the Democratic ticket.
Wise is an active leader in the community, serving as a member of the Burnham Borough Sewer Authority, Mifflin County School District Board of Directors and Mifflin County Academy of Science and Technology operating committee.
Wise was an original founder of the Central Keystone Youth Football and Cheerleading organization. He has spent much of his life advocating for the youth of Mifflin County. Soon after helping to form the organization, Wise then brought back the Burnham Bulldogs Special Needs Team.
He lives in Burnham with his family.
If elected in November, Postal will serve a third term as a commissioner. He was appointed in May 2017 to fill an unexpired term and was then elected for a full term in 2019.
Postal serves on the Board of the County Commissioners Association of PA and has been elected by his peers to serve as a trustee on the PA Opioid Abatement Trust. The Trust oversees the statewide distribution of billions of dollars from the settlements from pharmaceutical companies and distributors.
He has been appointed to Chair the Community and Economic Development Committee for CCAP and is a 2018 graduate from CCAP's Center of Excellence. As a commissioner, he also represents the County on numerous regional and local boards and authorities.
In his previous career as President of MCIDC before public service, Postal had been instrumental in projects such as First Quality, Mann Edge Terrace, Trinity Plastics, Primary Health Network, and many other large and small industrial and community development projects.
He and wife, Valerie, live in Derry Township.
If elected in November, Kodish will serve his fourth term as Mifflin County Commissioner.
In addition to serving as president of the 11-county SEDA-COG Board of Directors, his local board memberships include the Mifflin-Juniata Area on Aging (board president); Mifflin-Juniata Call-A-Ride Services (board treasurer); and Mifflin-Juniata Regional Services Corp. (board secretary). Kodish is also the commissioner liaison to the Mifflin County Library Board.
Prior to becoming a commissioner in 2012, Kodish served for 29 years as director of communications for the Association of Pennsylvania State College and University Faculties in Harrisburg. He is also known locally as a former high school girls basketball coach, serving for 29 years between Lewistown Area and Mifflin County high schools and five seasons at Juniata High School. Kodish coached Lewistown to back-to-back PIAA Championships in 1996-97 and 1997-98.
