LEWISTOWN -- Jonathan Reed received the Republican nomination for Judge of the Court of Common Pleas 58th Judicial District, according to Tuesday's unofficial primary election results.
Reed received 2,832 of 6,252 total votes on the primary ballot.
Reed was also the top vote getter on the Democratic ballot, receiving 745 of 1,710 total votes.
Unofficial results state that Jerry Wagner received 2,166 votes on the Republican ticket and 494 on the Democratic ticket.
Jeffrey Davis received 1,250 on the Republican ballot and 470 on the Democratic ballot.
If elected in November's primary, Reed will fill a seat vacated by Judge David Barron and will serve a 10-year term.
Reed has presided as magisterial district judge over Derry and Decatur townships, Burnham Borough, and Lewistown Borough South since 2016.
Reed graduated from Lewistown Area High School in 2001.
He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in criminal justice from Lock Haven University in 2005 and his Juris Doctorate from Liberty University School of Law in 2012. He was admitted to practice by the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania in 2012. Reed is a member of the Special Court Judges Association of Pennsylvania, the Pennsylvania Bar Association, and the Mifflin County Bar Association.
Prior to being elected to the office of Magisterial District Judge, Reed served as an attorney in our local judicial system in a variety of capacities.
He worked as a judicial law clerk for the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas, served as a mental health hearing review officer for the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas and has presided as a master over the Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas Juvenile and Adult Treatment Courts. Reed was also an instructor of law and criminal justice courses at the former Lewistown branch of South Hills School of Business and Technology. Prior to becoming an attorney, Reed served as a juvenile probation officer at the Mifflin County Probation and Parole Office.
Reed is actively involved in the community. He is a board member and past president of the Lewistown Kiwanis Club. During his service as president of Kiwanis, Reed was recognized by Kiwanis International as a distinguished member in honor of his hard work and support of the club. He is also a member of the Mifflin County Criminal Justice Advisory Board and former member of the South Hills School of Business and Technology Criminal Justice Advisory Board. Reed is a member of the Strodes Mills Baptist Church.
Reed is a life-long resident of Mifflin County and lives in Derry Township with his wife, Alina. He is the son of Mark and Danielle Reed, and has two sisters, Nichole and Jessica.
