The Sentinel offers nonprofit and other community organizations an opportunity to promote upcoming events for free in the community calendar for three days before the event. Events requiring reservations may be promoted for up to two weeks before the reservation deadline.
Events that require a purchase from a for-profit business, even if a donation is made to the organization, are not eligible for the calendar.

• Democratic Committee 'Primarily Picnicking' at Kish Park -- The Mifflin County Democratic Committee will host 'Primarily Picnicking' Sunday, April 30 from noon-2 p.m. at Kish Park in Lewistown. The event will be held in the scooter car (caged) pavilion. Picnic lunch and door prizes. Candidates are invited. Cost is a donation of $15 per ticket or two for $25. Featured guest is Leah Fronk, horticulturist and educator with Juniata County Extension. A transplant share for all who attend. • 7th annual McClure Bacon Fest -- 9 a.m.- 5 p.m. in Station Park. Free admission. Features handmade crafts and delicious bacon. Chocolate-covered bacon, grilled bacon and cheese sandwiches, bacon cheeseburgers, bacon cheese fries, maple bacon cupcakes and more. The Bacon Fest Beverage Garden will be open from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. Must be over 21 years old with valid ID to enter the beverage garden. No exceptions. Inflatable fun zone is also available to visitors of all ages and requires a $5 wristband for all day access.
