LEWISTOWN -- Whether you've got a green thumb or just tried your luck at a few plantings, the Friends of the Mifflin County Library wants any unwanted gardening books you own.
The Friends is holding their second book swap from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday in the Community Room at the Mifflin County Library, 123 N. Wayne St., Lewistown. This book swap focuses only on gardening.
"We continue to fundraise to help the library with purchases and improvements for the patrons," said Cheryl Swineford, who serves as the Friends' secretary.
The books can be about flowers, plants, herbs or canning and preserving, and only these types of books will be accepted at this book swap event, Swineford said. "Don't worry, other event editions will follow," she added.
Event tickets are $5 each and available at the door. Refreshments and access to all the books in the swap are included. For each book you bring to the swap, you will receive a book ticket. Each of these tickets can be used to swap for another book found at the event.
Additional books may be purchased for $2 each, so even if you don't have books to swap, attending this event is an opportunity to discover and purchase new ones.
After the swap, remaining books will become the property of the library and will be used or sold as needed.
Proceeds from the event benefit the library, and "will be used to make the library even better," Swineford said.
