LEWISTOWN -- A Lewistown man found guilty of third-degree murder in February was sentenced to 12-24 years in a state correctional institution on Friday.
Eric Joseph Wilson, 22, was convicted of charges that linked him to the death of Travis Taylor on Nov. 13, 2020. Other charges included involuntary manslaughter, aggravated assault, simple assault and recklessly endangering another person.
His sentencing will be followed by one year of consecutive probation.
"It's a tragic case for the victim's family," said Mifflin County District Attorney Christopher Torquato after the sentencing.
He noted that the sentencing was emotional for both the victim and the defendant's families.
Torquato said impact statements were provided to Mifflin County Court of Common Pleas Judge Aaron Gingrich regarding the loss of Travis Taylor.
Wilson also expressed remorse to the Taylor family, Torquato said.
According to court documents, Travis Taylor sustained a subsequently fatal gunshot wound to the head at an apartment building in the Borough of Lewistown shortly after midnight on Nov. 13, 2020.
