LEWISTOWN -- A Lewistown man led Mifflin County Regional Police on a high-speed chase from Brown Township through Lewistown Borough Thursday morning.
Police said in a news release that at about 9 a.m., officers saw a 2003 Chevrolet Impala, driven by Michael A. Torrence, traveling at a high rate of speed on US Highway 322 eastbound at the Burnham/Yeagertown interchange.
As officers attempted to close in on the vehicle, it was observed weaving in and out of traffic in an unsafe manner.
The report states that Torrence failed to yield and continued through portions of Derry Township to the west end of Lewistown Borough, then terminated the pursuit due to unsafe conditions.
After tracking the driver's license plate information, officers proceeded to a residence on State Street Lewistown where they relocated the vehicle and identified the driver, Torrence, 27.
He was transported to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for toxicology testing and taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and various other charges.
He is awaiting arraignment at Mifflin County Correctional Facility.
