MCHS band wins state championship

ALTOONA -- The Mifflin County High School marching band traveled to Mansion Park in Altoona on Saturday for the Tournament of Bands State Championship event.

At the end of the evening the band returned home as the Group 3-A Class Pennsylvania champions.

Director Art Belfiore said the band’s score of 95.01 was the highest in the history of Mifflin County Bands who have competed in TOB. The band also won the Specialty Awards for Best Color Guard, Best Drum Line, Best Music and Best Visual.

The band will compete in their final event of the season Sunday at The Tournament of Bands Atlantic Coast Championship Series held in Hersheypark Stadium. The band will perform at 10 a.m. and is in competition with bands from New Jersey, Maryland and Delaware.
