LEWISTOWN -- The Juniata River Valley has many great stories about its people, history and culture.

Museum Day in the Juniata River Valley will be shining a spotlight on these stories during the second annual event on Sept. 24.

This year, the Juniata River Valley Visitors Bureau, the Mifflin County Historical Society and the Huntingdon County History and Heritage Roundtable once again highlight many of the museums in the tri-county area. Twenty locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (except as noted) for guests to visit at no charge.

"Take the day, pick a few places in Huntingdon, Juniata and/or Mifflin County(s) and explore the amazing history and heritage right here in beautiful historic central Pennsylvania," said Lonni Smith Jr., chairman of the Huntingdon County Historical Society.

• McCoy House Museum and Library

• Hoopes School

• Amish & Mennonite Heritage Center

• Burnham Dog House

• Kishacoquillas Valley Historical Society

• McVeytown Museum.

Juniata County

• Tuscarora Academy

• Juniata County Historical Society Archives

• Juniata Mennonite Historical Center

• Fort Pomfret

• Smith School

• The American House.

Huntingdon County

• Isett Heritage Museum

• Swigart Museum

• Rockhill Trolley Museum (11 a.m.-4:15 p.m.)

• Friends of East Broad Top Museum, Robertsdale (10 a.m.-5 p.m.)

• Huntingdon County Historical Society (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

• Huntingdon County Visitors Bureau (10 a.m.-4 p.m.)

• Huntingdon County Fair Farm Museum (10 a.m.-2 p.m.)

• Bricktown Museum (9 a.m.-3 p.m.).
