By Brian Cox 1 min read

LEWISTOWN -- A Lewistown man was charged with strangulation and endangering the welfare of children after police said he grabbed a child by the throat, picked them up and threw them onto the ground, according to an affidavit of probable cause filed by the Lewistown Police Department.

At that time, David W. Traxler, 41, was incarcerated at Mifflin County Correctional Facility in lieu of $150,000 bail.

During a preliminary hearing held Aug. 18 in Mifflin County Central Court before Magisterial District Judge Jonathan W. Reed, charges including strangulation, simple assault and endangering the welfare of a child were withdrawn.

Traxler pleaded guilty to simply assault, a summary offense.
