Police: 1 dead in head-on collision

MEXICO -- One woman is dead after a head-on crash Thursday evening in Juniata County.

Pennsylvania State Police said 67-year-old Marcella L. Zimmerman, of Mifflintown, was killed after she drifted over the double yellow line while driving her 2011 Chevrolet Cruze west at approximately 4:27 p.m. along William Penn Highway in Walker Township.

Police said Zimmerman's vehicle collided head-on with a 2018 Ford Raptor pickup driven by 36-year-old Nicholas D. Saner, of Thompsontown.

Police said Zimmerman, who was not wearing her seat belt, was killed in the crash and was pronounced dead on the scene. Saner was wearing a seat belt and only sustained minor injuries, police said.

Assisting state police on scene were the Mifflintown Fire Department, Port Royal EMS, Thompsontown EMS and the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
