LEWISTOWN -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is alerting area motorists that more roadwork will get underway soon in Juniata and Mifflin counties. Sign setting will start on Monday in Juniata County, with work expected to begin the following week.
Crews will work first to improve Doe Run Road from Main Street just outside of Port Royal to Cedar Springs Road. Work on state Route 850 from state Route 35 to the Perry County line will follow.
As spring progresses, drivers need to be aware that they could encounter crews working in either county -- dependent on weather and works schedules.
Other roads to see work in Juniata County are:
¯State Route 75 from near East Waterford to Honey Grove
¯Tennis Park Road from Lost Creek toward Mountain Road
Routes in Mifflin County include:
¯Newton Road/Wayne Street from Newton Hamilton to U.S. 22
Jacks Mountain Road/Wills Road from the Menno/Oliver Township line to state Route 655
¯State Route 103 from Race Track Road to Roundhouse Road
As crews work, a daylight alternating traffic control pattern will be in place. Drivers should expect to encounter flaggers on the roadway, along with short travel delays.
This work is part of a $4.4 million project, to address improvements on more than 20 miles of roadway in Mifflin and Juniata counties. PennDOT will issue updates as work progress requires.
All work is weather and schedule dependent.
Overall work will include milling, placement of binder and wearing courses, final paving, guide rail updates, pavement markings, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College, PA is the contractor on this project, which is expected to be complete in late September.
PennDOT reminds drivers to use caution and not to follow trucks into the closed lane as they deliver material.
