LEWISTOWN -- The number of hospitalized patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 continues to fall locally and throughout the state, according to numbers released Wednesday by Geisinger.
According to Geisinger, there are 17 COVID-19 patients at Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital as of 11:59 p.m. Monday. Of those, three are in the intensive care unit and two are using a ventilator to assist with breathing. Geisinger reports 22% of occupied beds in the Lewistown facility are people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
Statewide, there are 183 COVID-19 patients in Geisinger hospitals, 141 of whom (or 77%) are not fully vaccinated. Geisinger defines someone as "fully vaccinated" if they have received at least both shots of a two-shot vaccine. Of the 42 fully-vaccinated people in the hospital with COVID-19, 30 are more than 180 days removed from their most-recent vaccine dose or booster.
Geisinger reports 33 people in its ICUs, 24 of whom (or 73%) are not fully vaccinated. Of the nine fully-vaccinated ICU patients with COVID-19, six are more than 180 days removed from their most-recent vaccine dose or booster.
There are 24 COVID-19 patients on ventilators throughout the Geisinger system, 19 of whom (or 79%) are not fully vaccinated. Of the five fully-vaccinated COVID-19 patients, two are more than 180 days removed from their most recent vaccine dose or booster.
