The Little Buffalo State Park Complex will host a number of events in January.
Those at Little Buffalo will host virtual lunchtime lectures via Microsoft Teams at noon every Monday and Wednesday in January.
Hosts will send links once paticipants register; those who wish to participate must register to receive a link.
Individuals should register on the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR) calendar of events and look for Little Buffalo events.
Virtual programs include:
Jan. 5: Tree ID - Maples, ash and dogwoods
Jan. 10: Owl outlaws
Jan. 12: Native Americans of the Eastern woodlands
Jan. 17: Tree ID - Hard mast species
Jan. 19: Wildlife forensics
Jan. 24: Fossils
Jan. 26: Winter birds
Jan. 31: Tree ID - Soft mast species
The in-person programs for this month include:
Jan. 12: 4 p.m. -- Walk -- Creek Trail: Join the park naturalist for a brief walk after work along the Creek Trail until dark to look for wildlife. Meet at pavilion 1 and 2 parking lot.
Jan. 16: 10 a.m. -- Birding Walk: We will walk the mill race trail in the west day use area to look for and count birds for eBird. Meet at East Area -- next to the stage and pavilion.
Jan. 16: 2 p.m. -- Beautiful Birds Workshop: All ages are welcome to come and learn about birding! Dress for the weather -- we will go for a short birding walk. Please register. Meet at park office classroom. Register on the DCNR Calendar of events or call (717) 567-9255.
Jan. 19: 4 p.m. -- Walk -- Buffalo Ridge: Come out and hike part of Buffalo Ridge and Fisherman's Trail. Meet at East Area -- next to the stage and pavilion.
Jan. 22: 10 a.m. -- Wildlife Walk: We will walk the Creek Trail to look for wildlife. Bring binoculars or cameras! Pavilion 1 and 2 parking lot.

According to a press release from the Pennsylvania DCNR, the department asks those who wish to attend programs should pay attention to weather forecasts. If there is heavy snow or ice, programs may be cancelled.
