LEWISTOWN -- As of Wednesday, Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital is reporting 39 currently hospitalized patients who have tested positive for COVID-19 with six in the intensive care unit and four on ventilators to assist with breathing.
The hospital said 39% of its occupied beds are filled with people who have tested positive for COVID-19.
System-wide, Geisinger said a total of 318 hospitalized patients are COVID-19 positive, among which 270, or 85% are not fully vaccinated, meaning they have yet to complete both doses of a two-dose vaccine or have received a one-dose vaccine. Of the 48 fully-vaccinated patients, 37 are more than 180 days removed from their final dose or most-recent booster. Patients who are 180 days or more removed from their final vaccine dose are eligible for a booster.
Geisinger also reports 76 ICU patients system-wide, 68 of whom (89%) are not fully vaccinated.
Of the 48 Geisinger patients currently using a ventilator to assist with breathing, 45 of them (94%) are not fully vaccinated.
