MIDDLEBURG -- District Attorney Mike Piecuch announced the recent sentencing of Ryan DaSilva of Norfolk, Va., for violent offenses he committed in March 2021 while driving through Snyder County. DaSilva was sentenced on Nov. 23 to seven months to six years in state prison by Judge Michael Sholley after entering a plea to threatening other drivers with a firearm and trying to hit them with his vehicle.
"I'm thankful that no one was hurt or killed as a result of the defendant's actions," Piecuch said. "Many thanks to the victims and eyewitnesses who provided key information to locate and identify the defendant so he could be held accountable."
DaSilva's crimes in Snyder County were part of a day-long episode. According to police reports, the incident began at a hotel in Montour County where DaSilva brandished and discharged a firearm during a dispute with hotel staff.
He then fled south in a black SUV. While traveling through Snyder County, DaSilva threatened other drivers along state Routes 11 and 15 with a firearm and attempted to crash into them. DaSilva continued south and fled from state police when they located him in Cumberland County. Eventually, he crashed in Adams County where he was taken into custody and a 9mm firearm was seized.
DaSilva is also facing charges in Montour, Cumberland and Adams counties as a result of his course of conduct on that day.
