LEWISTOWN -- Kid Connection returns to Mifflin County after a pandemic-induced year off, with an event Saturday that is part in-person and part online.

Among the activities will be a carnival and wrestling show, a local version of the Kindness Rocks Project and handouts to the first 300 children to register.

Also part of the festivities are videos online with more activities for the kids.

Registration is online at https://bit.ly/32ERYU8.

Volunteers have already begun stuffing the commemorative tote bags that registered kids can pick up Saturday morning in the parking lot in front of Sweet Frog in Burnham. Distribution runs from 10 a.m. to noon. The bags have activity books, coloring bags, crayons and colored pencils, stickers, foam crafts, a pasta necklace or bracelet kit, pencils, Silly Putty, candy, markers, keychains, a toy surprise and more. Most exciting is a cookie kit from Key Club.

The Spring Fling Carnival will offer free games and activities from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Doors open at 4 p.m. for a show by Seven Mountains Wrestling. Tickets are $10. All of those will take place at the Youth Park in Reedsville.

The painted rock hunt will take place throughout all the parks in Mifflin County and the river trail. Children who find the rocks are asked to send pictures. They can either re-hide them or keep the special painted rocks.

There are two crafts sponsored by Kid Connection, decorating the limited-edition bag that was designed by Lewistown Printworks with the markers provided and making a crown with a plate provided in the bag.

The videos range from a tour of animals, to hometown pottery, to a video activity of Drawing with Judy in comparison to her typical paint parties. There are local musicians performing for the children and then there are videos of music in between.

A schedule of online activities will be posted on Saturday on the Kid Connection Facebook page and Eventbrite page, https://bit.ly/32ERYU8. Confirmation from Eventbrite for registration must be present at pick-up to retrieve the bag.
