McALISTERVILLE – One woman is dead and two others suffered serious injuries as the result of a two-vehicle crash Saturday night on state Route 35 in Fayette Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police Lewistown.
Police said 63-year-old Delores K. Boozel, of Port Royal, was driving her 2003 Chevrolet Monte Carlo with two passengers south on state Route 35 at about 45 miles per hour when just before 10 p.m., she lost control of her vehicle attempting to negotiate a right turn. Police said the vehicle began to spin uncontrollably before crossing the center line and being struck by another vehicle -- a 2003 Oldsmobile Bravada driven by 53-year-old Brenda L. Hunter, of McAlisterville -- coming the other direction.
According to the police report, the roadway was slippery due to freezing rain at the time of the crash and the roadway was dark.
Boozel was pronounced dead at the scene while her passengers -- 46-year-old Heather M. Hockenberry, of Port Royal, and 48-year-old Joseph D. Burns, of Honey Grove, -- were both transported by ambulance to Geisinger-Lewistown Hospital for treatment of suspected serious injuries, according to the police report.
Hunter and her passenger -- 53-year-old John W. Hunter, also of McAlisterville -- did not report injuries from the collision.
Police said all five people involved were wearing seat belts at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were towed from the scene with disabling damage.
