LEWISTOWN -- Today's Sentinel includes the 32nd version of our annual magazine, Juniata Valley.

This year's topic is "Kids of the Juniata Valley," the second time the magazine has focused exclusively on our valley's younger residents -- who have also made an appearance in any number of previous Juniata Valley magazine issues with a variety of topics.

More than 40 young people were profiled in 35 stories, about average for the magazine. Along with contributions from our entire newsroom staff, there are stories by a trio of our best outside writers, and a handful of contributions by family members.

Most of the stories were brought to us by family members, who for different reasons felt their kids were worthy of recognition. We wholeheartedly agree.

The stories are wide and varied in content. The kids we were presented with are included for a variety of reasons, all under the general heading of achievement. Some will give you a laugh, others may bring a tear to your eye.

This issue will have some noticeable differences from years past. Now printed by our sister publication, the Altoona Mirror -- like The Sentinel itself -- Juniata Valley magazine is restricted to a smaller format than in years past because of press limitations.

What will not change is the quality of writing. Juniata Valley magazine is our telling the stories of the people of our valley in the best way possible.

We hope you will enjoy reading about our region's bright future.
