Fair Districts to hold Virtual Town Hall
STATE COLLEGE -- Fair Districts PA will hold a Virtual Town Hall from 6-7 p.m. March 4 via Zoom.
Fair Districts PA speaker Debbie Trudeau will explain the problems created by gerrymandering and practical solutions with time for questions and answers.

Local Charter Day is on March 7th
HARRISBURG -- The Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission will celebrate the commonwealth's 340th birthday on Charter Day, Sunday, March 7, with a virtual display of William Penn's original 1681 charter and other programming from the Pennsylvania State Archives, State Museum of Pennsylvania and the Pennsylvania Trails of History.
Pennsylvania was created when England's King Charles II granted a charter to William Penn in 1681. Once each year, the Pennsylvania State Archives exhibits the original document for a limited time. The 340-year-old Charter is written on parchment using iron gall ink. The State Archives preserves the document in a high-security vault, shielding it from strong light and environmental fluctuations.
Beginning March 7 and continuing through Friday, March 12, virtual visitors to the Charter Day 2021 landing page will be able to view the charter and find out more about how the Charter ended up at PHMC and how we care for it. In addition, they can "tour" the Violet Oakley murals of William Penn, Pennsylvania's founder, featured in the Governor's Reception Room at the Capitol, explore colonial-era documents or "virtually" page through more than 45 years of Pennsylvania Heritage magazine for articles exploring all aspects of Pennsylvania's 340-year history and much more.
Walmart hosts local virus vaccine event
BOALSBURG -- Walmart will begin administering Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines in Centre County with a clinic inside the Calvary Harvest Fields Church at 150 Harvest Fields Drive, Boalsburg, from Thursday through Saturday.
Eligible patients can schedule a vaccine appointment by calling (800) 753-8827, making it convenient to get vaccinated while supplies last. Vaccines will be available to those who meet the current phase of vaccine eligibility in Pennsylvania which can be found at health.pa.gov. Insurance is not required, there is no cost to receive the vaccine and appointments for the second vaccination will be made while at the first appointment.
Walmart anticipates these events will take place over the next several weeks as allocation allows.
Vaccine events are being held in locations that prioritize access for those deemed most vulnerable, as well as operational capabilities. The team factored in demographic information, local health needs, staffing and medically underserved data to identify initial locations where the company thinks it can make the greatest impact in increasing vaccine access.
