MIFFLINTOWN--The Juniata County Commissioners announced yesterday that a COVID-19 testing site will be at the Central Juniata EMS building in Mifflintown. The testing will take place from December 27th until 3 p.m. on December 31st. The testing site will accept medical insurance. Those without medical insurance can still be tested at no cost. "We're pretty excited that Juniata County will have a testing site so we encourage that folks take advantage of that." commissioner Alice Gray said.
Also during the meeting the commissioers reappointed three to the Juniata County Agricultural Land Preservation Board of Directors effective January 1, 2021 as recommended by Christopher B. Snyder, Program Administrator.
Those appointed were Michael Beaver, Agricultural Member, Dave Saner, Member at Large, and Bobbi Jo Zimmerman, Member at Large. "It's always good when you have people that have the experience and have had the dedication for years to be willing to step up and say 'Hey I'll put myself out there again and I'm willing to do it again.' So we always appreciate when people are willing to do that." said commissioner Todd Graybill, "My sincere thanks to each of the memebrs there and welcome back."
The commissioners also took the following action at their meeting Tuesday:
¯Ratified the Juniata County Hazardous Materials check #1374 for $18.37 Wex Bank Fuel
¯Approved the 2020 allocation request for Liquid Fuel Funds for Susquehanna Township $3,374.48 and Walker Township $3,332.80.
¯Approved the updated "Agreement to Participate in the Unemployment Compensation Program of the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania Unemployment Compensation Trust". This agreement is between Juniata County and the County Commissioners Association of Pennsylvania and is effective June 30, 2020.
¯Ratified the CDBG-IDIS check as submitted by the Juniata County Planning and Community Development Department #1260 for $6,707.70 – Robert P. Lepley Electrical Contractor (project costs)
¯Ratified the Home Housing Rehab Project checks as submitted by the Juniata County Planning and Community Development Department #370 for $2,765.00 Seda-Cog (project costs) and #371 for $5,880.00 Seda-Cog (project costs).
¯Approve the collective bargaining agreement contract extensions with the Teamsters Local 776 Commissioners' Residual Unit and Teamsters Local 776 Court Appointed Employees Unit. The contract extensions are for a period of one (1) year effective January 1, 2021.
¯Reviewed the November 2020 departmental reports – "Children and Youth Statistical Report" as submitted by Ashley J. Baxter, Children & Youth Director and "Summary of Collections Report - Fines and Costs" as submitted by Jacqueline T. Leister, Magisterial District Judge.
¯Approve payment of checks #60083 – #60140 in the amount of $170,507.36.
