Intermediate unit to be given Head Start grant

$839,202 donation awarded to support kids, families in need

McVEYTOWN — Rep. Fred Keller, whose 12th District encompasses all of Mifflin, Juniata, Snyder and Perry counties, has announced that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded a grant to Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11 in Mifflin County.

A Head Start grant in the amount of $839,202 will be administered by HHS to TIU 11 to support comprehensive childhood development and better meet the needs of area children and families in need.

On the awarding of the grants, Keller made the following statement:

“Tuscarora Intermediate Unit 11 is an outstanding service agency dedicated to bettering children’s lives and providing them with the education and tools necessary for future success. I am confident that this grant will go a long way to support their important mission. I commend HHS for continuing to connect our community with federal resources that to improve the lives of those living in our region.”
