LEWISTOWN -- The Downtown Lewistown Inc. Board of Directors held its regular meeting via Zoom on Wednesday afternoon.

Among topics discussed was a sidewalk and curbing project aimed at the north side of West Water Street. The project will span the segment of West Water Street from South Main Street to Juniata Street.

According to Jim Zubler, executive director of DLI, Rex Fink (Lewistown Borough's code enforcement officer) and the project engineer walked the aforementioned length of West Water Street and identified areas which needed improved or brought up to code.

"The next step is to complete the documents, then we will advertise for contracting bids so the project can being in the spring," Zubler said.

The board is also working on making an application for designation for the Keystone Communities Program. This helps to facilitate cooperation between industrial and private sectors to support local community initiatives. The board first completed this five-year designation earlier this year in July, but the program is such that acceptance must be maintained by proving the organization's sustainability, meaning it has the support of local municipalities, industries, organizations and citizens.

The remainder of the meeting consisted mostly of internal affairs regarding working around the impeding snowstorm.

The board also approved its minutes from last month's meeting.
