Coroner: 22 died of virus in Mifflin Co. in past week

Since COVID-19 surge, 106 local residents have perished

LEWISTOWN -- Mifflin County Coroner Daniel P. Lynch reports that another 22 people have died this past week in Mifflin County due to COVID-19.

Lynch said that means 106 people have perished due to the virus in the county since the recent surge began on Nov. 8.

Lynch's numbers are the totals for people whose deaths occur in Mifflin County, regardless of where those people reside. The Pennsylvania Department of Health counts the number of county residents who have died due to COVID-19, regardless of where the death took place.

The state health department figures, as of Tuesday, list Mifflin County as having had 84 COVID-19 deaths so far among its residents.
