YEAGERTOWN -- Mifflin County Regional Police Department is ending one era while beginning another.
On Thursday, Chief Scott Mauery and Corporal Robert Whisler both officially retired from the department. Also on Thursday, Sergeant Andre French was named the new chief of MCRPD.
The retirements and promotion were announced at Thursday's meeting of the MCRPD Board of Directors.
The promotion of French is effective immediately.
"Congratulations and thank you to Cpl. Whisler and Chief Mauery for all of the years of dedication and service to the community," the department said in a press release. "Congratulations to Chief French for your promotion as we all look forward to working for you in your position."
According to the release, Whisler had 24 years of service to MCRPD and Mauery had been there for a quarter-century.
Mifflin County Regional Police Department provides service to Burnham Borough and Armagh, Brown, Derry and Union townships. The department also patrols Mifflin County School District properties.
