Wilson promoted to BMS’ new interim superintendent
Former principal, teacher, leader appointed new school director

BELLEVILLE -- Nicholas Wilson has been named interim superintendent of Belleville Mennonite School, effective Thursday.
Since joining BMS faculty last summer, Wilson has been serving as the middle and high school principal, a middle school teacher and part of the leadership team that has been covering the responsibilities of superintendent, according to a news release from the school.
"It is an honor and a privilege to be stepping into the role of superintendent here at BMS," said Wilson. "My time with students and staff while teaching and serving as secondary principal has been an absolute blessing this year, and I am so very excited to continue leading the school into a bright future with Christ at the heart of all we do."
"He displays a willingness to lead and also to continue to learn as he transitions into the role of superintendent. I have no doubt that he will represent BMS and the community in a Christ-like and professional way. We are blessed and honored to work with him," said Jared Byler, third grade teacher and elementary principal. "It has been a great first half of the school year getting to know Nick. Over this time, he has shown the poise and demeanor needed to be a successful administrator at BMS."
Wilson earned a Master of Education in educational leadership with principal certification from Bloomsburg University. He received his Bachelor of Science in elementary education K-6 from Juniata College and special education certification K-8 from Messiah College.
He enjoyed serving in various teaching and leadership capacities at Mifflin County School District for over nine years.
Julie Lohr, principal at Middleburg Elementary School and former Principal at Lewistown Elementary School said, "Nick's ability to be patient, step back and look at the big picture and seek advice before jumping will serve him well in his new leadership role. He has an innate ability to connect and communicate with students, staff and families and his genuine love and passion for education and children are evident in all that he does. I can imagine that he is demonstrating all of those things and more on a regular basis for you all at BMS."
Jackie Shinskie, assistant principal at Indian Valley Elementary Center and former assistant principal at Lewistown Elementary School said, "Mr. Wilson has always been a great source of support and encouragement to the children he has worked with throughout his educational career. He has impacted many lives, and is always willing to do what is best for his students. BMS is blessed to have a man with his Christian values in their leadership position."
Wilson enjoys playing the guitar and drums, producing music, hunting, fishing, kayaking and skiing. He treasures spending time with his family both in the mountains and at the beach. He is regularly involved in the worship ministry at Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church, where he also assists with the youth ministry.
Nick and his wife, Abby, have two children, Olivia and Benjamin, and reside in Lewistown.
