Coroner’s office IDs victim of Wednesday fatal crash on SR 103

Cause of death ruled to be multiple blunt force trauma

LEWISTOWN -- The Mifflin County Coroner's Office has released the identity of the victim of a Wednesday afternoon fatal crash along state Route 103 in Granville Township.

The coroner's office said 48-year-old Thomas Bender III was pronounced dead at the scene due to multiple blunt force trauma and that the death was ruled accidental. Bender was the driver in the one-vehicle crash.

The crash led to state Route 103 being closed for about an hour Wednesday afternoon. City Hook and Ladder, Junction Fire Company, Granville Township Police Department, Fame EMS and Granville Township Fire Police responded.
