Until 2020, many Mifflin County residents faced the frustrating prospect of inadequate or even non-existent high-speed internet. Ten towers are currently in operation- Belleville, Havice Valley, Lewistown North, Lewistown South, McClure, McVeytown East, McVeytown West, Reedsville, Decatur Township, Strodes Mills and the newest tower in Treaster Valley.
One of the biggest obstacles to potential customers being able to receive Mifflin County Wireless service was a tree, home or other obstruction to the tower's line-of-sight. But with their new LTE equipment, they can now provide non line-of-sight service utilizing Citizens Broadband Radio Service. So-called "soft" items such as trees, vegetation or buildings that previously obstructed tower service may not be an issue with this service.
