May 28 -- 9 a.m., May 28, church service to honor veterans, sponsored by Stroup-Alexander VFW Post 5935 of Belleville, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Allensville
May 29 -- 9:30 a.m., Memorial Day Parade, Main Street, Belleville, followed by Memorial Day services at the Stroup-Alexander VFW Post 5935 Home, Belleville. Parade grand marshal: John Kennedy; speaker at the service: Capt. Nancy A. Simmons.
May 29 -- 8:30 a.m., Juniata County Veterans Council Memorial Day parade forms at the Port Royal Community Building.
May 29 -- 10:30 a.m., Juniata County Veterans Council Memorial Day parade forms at the Mifflintown American Legion Post 298. The parade will proceed to the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery for a memorial service starting at 11 a.m. Invocation: Rev. Albert Gray; list of all the Juniata County departed comrades since Memorial Day 2016 will be read. More information: call Clarence Allen, commander of the American Legion Post 298 at 994-8735.
May 29 -- 11 a.m., Honor Our Veterans Memorial Day Service, at Troxelville Union Cemetery. Special speaker: Kogan Mitchell, veteran; community band will perform patriotic music; bring a lawn chair; in the event of rain, the service will be held in Grace Reformed Church, Troxelville.
May 29 -- In McVeytown, the Memorial Day parade will form at McVeytown Library at 9:30 a.m., and move out at 10 a.m., through the town and around to the center of town. The service includes: Officer of The Day Lion Craig Johns; lowering of the flag by scouts from Troop 104; Lion Scott Wood will sing the National Anthem; Pastor Pat Bollinger, prayer and opening remarks; Gettysburg Address by a member of Troop 104; special music by Hannah Schreffler and Greg DeVecchis; guest speaker, Brad Williams; small gifts for all veterans; wreath by Marine Lion Rick Clark; flower for each war by scouts from the area; benediction by Bollinger; gun salute by VFW 7011; 'Taps" by Gwin Brower.
